Golden Triangle Gospel Music Awards!!

I had the honor to be apart of this year's GTA Awards! I was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and my group Anointed Harmony was nominated for Female Quartet of the Year. In my opinion, it was a great show! Freddie Poindexter, who is the founder, really worked hard and had a great group of people backing him in this project! I look forward to participating again next year if the supporters of my ministry say the same. With that being said, the one thing I noticed is that local quartet groups were not very supportive of the awards and I heard on several occasions that it's not "real" This bothers me, that people would downplay anyone else receiving accolades mainly because they are not nominated. I even heard people say it was rigged. This is simply not true. Even though we did not win, I understood that the winner is based on votes and how many people support your ministry. It is a blessing just to be nominated, that means someone thought enough of you and your ministry that they thought you deserved recognition. So my advice for people who want to be apart of this next year, Get involved! Ask your supporters to nominate and vote for you and you will be walking the red carpet next year!

Here are some snap shots of my eventful weekend At the Golden Triangle Gospel Music awards.

  1. Whitney I am grateful for people like you who are always backing and supporting the things I strive to bring to this area. I heard all of the negative things the quartets and others had to say about the Gospel Music awards, and yes a few years Ago that bothered me because this all started as a way of honoring who?? THE LOCAL QUARTETS! But as time progressed and God started allowing my imagination to broaden quite a bit with what could happen right here in this area, I soon learned to turn the pressure into praise. The bad thing is on this year we had so many people who claimed to be in full support of everything we were doing and claiming that they would be in attendance to do whatever was needed (nominees) however, on the night of the events they were no where to be found. Not a phone call, text, email or anything saying that something came up or maybe something happened. BUT and there is a BUT...they were the FIRST ones to call and ask how to obtain their awards that they were not there to accept. Really...... now I am as nice as you allow me to be but there are some things I simply don't entertain. NO, this may not be as big of an awards ceremony to some as it is to others but I feel anytime someone appreciates you for doing anything weather on a local or a national level you should be thankful because the same way you went up you will surely come down.

Now that Im done venting about the negative let me take this time to thank EVERYONE who did show up and who did participate. This year both events were simply awesome. We had praise and worship, quartet, mime/dance, traditional choir, contemporary artist, Baptist, Methodist, COGIC, Full Gospel etc and preachers all in one setting. Where does this happen at??? ONLY at the Golden Triangle Gospel Music Awards. It was so amazing to see all of these different people come together for one purpose and that was to lift up the name of Jesus. I am grateful for every staff member that volunteered their time in helping me pull this off. The Noxubee County Mass Choir for working so hard and the background singers and the band....IM SPEECHLESS because they were outstanding! I must give a special thanks to Marockco Robinson. He served as my right hand man from day 1. He was constantly working to make sure everything was in place. He made sure I stopped to dot every I and cross every T and for this I want to publicly tell him thanks. Chrishon Smith and the Anointed Brown Sisters, what can I say? They are my friends and they NEVER let me down! Sierra Ward, my sis showed up and allowed God to work through her. To all of the guest artist and guest presenters I WILL BE calling on you all next year lol. I Love all of yall!!!!

Ok now im gonna get off here because Ill keep going.
